PRIVACY POLICY

Save Election Day ("Save Election Day," "we," "us," or "our") collects only the personal information needed to keep you informed and to run our programs. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your mobile phone number or text-messaging opt-in data with third parties for their marketing purposes.

1. Who This Policy Covers

This Privacy Policy applies to the Save Election Day website (the "Site"), our email list, and our text-message program (together, the "Services"). The Services are intended for people in the United States. We do not direct them to people in other countries. By using the Site or signing up for our messages, you agree to this Policy.

2. Information We Collect

Information you give us. This includes your name, email address, mobile phone number, ZIP code, and any other details you enter when you sign up for updates, volunteer, take action, donate, or contact us. If you send us a message, we may keep its contents.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our service providers may collect your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring website, and the date and time of your visit. We collect this through cookies and similar technologies.

Text-message data. If you join our text program, we also record your phone number, your consent (the date, time, and method of opt-in), the messages we send and receive, and delivery status.

Payment information. If we accept donations through the Site, a third-party payment processor handles your card or bank details. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Send you emails and text messages about our mission, election-related news, advocacy opportunities, events, and fundraising, if you have signed up for them
  • Respond to your questions and requests
  • Organize volunteers and supporters
  • Process donations and send receipts
  • Operate, secure, and improve the Site
  • Keep records of your consent and comply with the law

4. Email Communications

We email you only if you have given us your address and chosen to receive messages. Every marketing or fundraising email includes a working unsubscribe link and our mailing address, as required by the federal CAN-SPAM Act. We honor unsubscribe requests within 10 business days, and we do not charge a fee or require anything other than your email address to opt out. We may still send transactional messages, such as donation receipts, after you unsubscribe.

5. Text Messaging Program

Consent. We send recurring automated text messages only to people who have expressly agreed to receive them, for example by entering their mobile number on the Site and checking a consent box, or by texting a keyword to our number. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of making a donation or using the Site. We record when and how you gave consent.

What you will receive. Messages may include updates about election-related issues, action alerts, event reminders, and fundraising requests. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.

How to opt out. Reply STOP at any time to cancel. We may send one final message confirming your request. You may also use words like END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, or QUIT, or contact us using the details in Section 11. After you opt out, you will receive no further marketing texts from us unless you sign up again.

How to get help. Reply HELP for assistance or contact us using the details in Section 11.

Carriers. Wireless carriers and their affiliates are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

No sharing of mobile information. No mobile information, including phone numbers and text opt-in data and consent, will be shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We may share it with service providers that help us send messages, but only to deliver our messages and under obligations to keep it confidential.

Timing and number changes. We send texts only during reasonable hours, generally between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. in your local time zone, and sometimes earlier in the evening where state law is stricter. If you change or give up your phone number, please tell us or reply STOP so that we do not text the next person who gets it.

6. How We Share Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only in these limited cases:

  • Service providers. Companies that help us run the Services, such as email and text-message platforms, website hosting, analytics, and payment processing. They may use your information only to perform services for us.
  • Legal and safety reasons. When required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Save Election Day, our supporters, or the public.
  • Organizational changes. If we merge with or transfer our assets to another organization, your information may transfer too, subject to this Policy.
  • With your consent. For any other purpose you approve.

As stated in Section 5, we never share mobile phone numbers or text opt-in data with third parties for their marketing.

7. Cookies and Analytics

The Site uses cookies and similar tools to keep it working, understand how visitors use it, and measure our outreach. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not work. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or similar opt-out signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of any sharing of your information for advertising purposes.

8. Security and Retention

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. We keep your information for as long as you remain a supporter and as needed to meet legal, accounting, and consent-record requirements. We keep a record of your opt-out so we can honor it.

9. Your Choices and Privacy Rights

You may at any time:

  • Unsubscribe from emails using the link in any message
  • Reply STOP to any text message to end texts
  • Ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct or delete your information, subject to legal record-keeping needs

To make a request, contact us at the address below. We may need to verify your identity first. Some states give residents additional rights over their personal information, such as access, deletion, and correction. Although we may not be legally required to extend every such right, we will honor reasonable requests from residents of any state. We will not treat you differently for making a request.

10. Children's Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Your Privacy Rights

Below we have included the summary of the rights you may have with respect to the personal information we maintain about you. If you are a Nevada resident, you have the right to submit a verified request directing us not to make any sale of certain personal information about you, as "sale" is defined under Nevada law. Where reasonably necessary, we may extend that period by an additional 45 days, and we will notify you of the extension and the reason for it within the initial 45-day period. We provide at least two methods for submitting requests, as described below.
